Home Roasting
Coffee beans can be roasted in small batches of green coffee beans at home. Coffee roasting at home has been popular for centuries, and has included techniques such as heating over fire coals, cast iron pans, and rotating iron drums over coal. Prior to the 20th century, it was more common for home roasted coffee drinkers to roast their coffee at home, than it was to buy roasted coffee. Roasting coffee at home faded in popularity with the rise of the commercial coffee roasting companies. In recent years roasting coffee at home has seen a comeback. By roasting at home one may achieve more control over the quality and characteristics of the the coffee beans and enjoy the aroma of roasting coffee.
